These small clumps of large rasberry shaped fruits grow native to the Ethersand Desert. As the name would suggest, foulberries are known for their repugnant smell and taste, though they are not poisonous. Archmages with nothing better to do sometimes speculate that the taste is in fact the plant’s idea of a defense mechanism. Despite their appalling taste foulberries have become a popular item in Kobold cuisine. They have also become standard fare for unfortunate travellers lost in the desert, as their nutritional value is decently built. This leads to the counter theory that foulberries were created by the mid-tier demon Imminus to prolong the suffering of desert vagrants while also contributing to it.
In the early 1400s, a band of honours students, who were often late to their lectures on high level magical alchemy, conducted a number of anthropological studies on the topic of foulberries. They uncovered in 1403 a runed tablet dating back to an ancient empire which, when translated, contained the recipe for the now famous foulberry soup. In honour of the honours students who discovered the recipe, foulberry soup is now used as a punishment for tardiness. The discoverers of the tablet were thoroughly pantsed as a result.
